The secret is out and there’s certainly no denying it, the areas just south of Pattaya are fast becoming the places to be and be seen.

Whether it’s a relaxing getaway with friends and family or just an evening meal Na Jomtien, Ban Amphur and Bangsaray have it sorted, with the South Pattaya coastline fast becoming the gourmet go-to.

Na Jomtien is located only a few miles from Pattaya. Surrounded by beautiful beaches, it’s the perfect place to dine al-fresco as the cool sea breeze and beautiful sunsets just add to the ambiance of the area and same can be said for the neighbouring Ban Amphur.

Travel just a little further south and you find yourself in Bangsaray the once quaint fishing village that is transforming into a destination of its own.

REm picks

Here a just a few eateries REm has picked out to whet your taste buds and get you craving more. Five-star hotels, seafront nibbles, game-changing beach clubs, Italian cuisine, seafood to local delicacies we’ve even thrown in a coffee shop.

A ’LA CAMPAGNE

On stepping into A’ la Campagne you are instantly transported into another world.

Set on an extremely large plot with beautiful, exquisite manicured gardens you could easily believe you have been transported to the French countryside.

A’ La Campagne has three separate dining areas – the atmospheric Somtum Villa, The Tea Factory and Le Rouge, a small vintage European bar serving wine and one-of-a-kind cocktails.

The Tea Factory is inspired by a tea factory in Sri Lanka where guests can enjoy the ambience of nostalgic Asian architecture blended with European essences using antique furniture and decorating items from Europe. Guests can enjoy having tea together along with a variety of homemade bakery items freshly made daily from its bakehouse.

The Somtum Villa serves authentic Thai cuisine; its somtum salad, an appetising mix of shredded green papaya, fresh chilli, garlic, dried shrimp, tomatoes, long beans, peanuts and cashews, coated with a light dressing of palm sugar, fish sauce and lime, is especially refreshing.

The restaurants also have an extensive international menu.

ALEXA BEACH PATTAYA

The place to eat, drink and listen. Alexa really is the premium beach club experience.

Alexa Beach Club offers casual dining in a stylish beach resort setting and its menu features tapas, wood-fired pizza, sushi, fresh seafood and meat dishes all inspired by flavours of the Mediterranean coastline.

REm’s favourite has to be the excellent shared platters, to be enjoyed among groups of friends which are perfect when you’re at a beach club. The platters include nibbles from across the globe, giving you a wide choice of tastes and textures to sample.

The star attraction of the premium beach club’s dining options is a luxurious 200-seat fine-dining restaurant, where you can enjoy an exquisite blend of Mediterranean and local Thai flavours.

This beach restaurant in Pattaya itself reflects this unique fusion of world-famous cuisines, combining the understated elegance of the Balearic Islands with the rustic charm of the Thai seafront.

T55 NEW YORK GRILL ROOM, MOVENPICK SIAM HOTEL, NA JOMTIEN PATTAYA

Located in the luxury beachfront hotel Movenpick Siam Hotel Na Jomtien Pattaya, T55 New York Grill Room is a New York-style brasserie that serves prime cuts of dry aged beef, complemented by a wide range of wines giving you a true grill room experience.

Our choice has to be the succulent 1.1kg tomahawk of Charolais beef, cut from a cow which spent the last 365 days of its life fattening up on grain and served in great slices each big enough to count for a steak in itself.

Our favourite sides include mac ‘n’ cheese, charred bone marrow and the house salad, actually T55’s whole menu is jammed with delights for even the most serious meat connoisseurs and the mouthwatering Meatpacking Burger deserves a mention too.

The restaurant’s décor has an industrial feel with accents of New York grill room design, a sophisticated yet unpretentious ambience with artistic expressions on the walls, low directional lighting, and stylish contemporary furnishings.

KEPT MARINE RESTAURANT, KEPT BANGSARAY

Fresh, simple, authentic and traditional seafood along with international food all served in a relaxed and comfortable alfresco environment, overlooking the infinity pool, scenic mountains and out to the ocean.

The menu at Kept is extensive and a la carte with traditional and authentic food options, varieties of seafood that take you through from breakfast – lunch and dinner.

There are some fantastic fusion options. We really love the Phad Thai and Spicy Salmon Salad and the dessert menu is a must. Check out the crème brulee… heaven.

The resort itself is simply stunning with its design, decor and furnishings taking a nautical seafaring theme and influence with delicate and subtle tones and materials, enticing all who stay to relax, rejuvenate and recharge.

THE SILVERLAKE WINE & GRILL

Situated in one of the most beautiful places on the Eastern Seaboard, Silverlake Vineyards, has been producing quality produce for a number of years now.

The vineyard was founded in 2002, by Surachai Tangjaitrong and Supansa Nuangpirom for the purpose of bringing people together through the dual passions of the owners: Namely good wine and good music, in a beautiful location.

The Silverlake Wine & Grill Restaurant and Pizza Cafe is the vineyard’s family-style restaurant that offers dining in the marvelous restaurant or alfresco to take in all the surrounding panoramic views. Being served are top Italian and Thai dishes and the chance to sample the vineyard’s produce.

Whether it’s lunch or dinner, this place is certainly a great spot to enjoy a meal. We recommend you try a pizza from the traditional wood-burning oven.

Silverlake Vineyard is only 20 minutes’ drive from Pattaya, but you would think that you were in Tuscany.

PAPILLON RESTAURANT, U PATTAYA

Papillon serves French bistro-style cuisine and offers regular buffets and special signature U dishes. The restaurant is open all day and can be found in the U Hotel on Bangsaray’s beachfront.

The U Pattaya is a beachfront resort that consists of 19 villas and 25 rooms with overall design taking its influence from a fisherman village concept using rustic wood and bamboo in the interior design.

The five-star hotel not only has Papillon Beachfront Restaurant but also La Vela, a rooftop bar.

The food at Papillon is simply delicious with our favorites being the seafood platter which is big enough for two and comes with a wide selection of seafood favourites including rock lobster, sea bass, prawns, squid, green mussels and scallops. Maybe the overall stand-out dish is duck confit and foie gras, which is slow-cooked duck leg and foie gras served with lentil stew and Lyonnaise potatoes.
