We asked Signature The Beauty Destination Owner and Hair Expert Nena Sutasinee to give us her insight on the colour trends for this season, and tell us how to wear them for maximum impact.
“Balayage is the hair colour trend that changed everything!”

“You can achieve so many different effects from soft, natural highlights to something strong and punky. The fact it’s so low maintenance is such a drawcard for women too. “It’s also a very economical way to colour your hair as you never have a solid demarcation line or regrowth, so if you can’t afford to get it done for another month it won’t look atrocious. However, if your balayage isn’t done correctly you can end up with excessive overlapping that can cause damage.”
So, what is balayage?
“Balayage (taken from the French word for “sweeping”) is a freehand colouring technique. Colour is painted directly onto designated sections of the hair without using foil. The result is a more natural, sun-kissed hue, without any harsh contrast between colours.”
What’s the difference between balayage and highlights?
“Balayage is a softer, more natural looking result than traditional foil highlights. Re-growth lines are less noticeable, and the lines are more delicate, creating a sun-kissed look that recreates a few weeks in the sun.”
