Overlooking a 700-year-old ancient temple ๐€๐ญ๐ก๐ข ๐“๐จ๐ง ๐Š๐š๐ž๐ฐ since the Mangrai Dynasty along with a grass field that embraces nature. Enshrined of an ancient 500-year-old Buddha image with a broken head telling the history and identity of Chiang Saen to the architects who are seasoned with local stories. With outstanding works at Baan Suan Chantita, Uthai Thani Province, โ€˜Studio Mitiโ€™ is responsible for the works of the Lanna Modern Hotel which presents an attractive local ambience in Chiang Saen.

Back in the day, the location was originally a courtyard. For this reason, architects intended to lay out a design which tells the story of a โ€œ๐‡๐ข๐๐๐ž๐ง ๐‚๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ญโ€ of open spaces such as an activity court or a small green area with a variety of relaxation corners.

The main building is designed as an L-shape encompassing the central area which develops into a large open space connecting the hotel and Athit Ton Kaew Temple as one story. Guests can luxuriate the view at the cafe and soak up the slow atmosphere and the charm of its history, while creating a memorable identity through materials making the experience more authentic and local than ever before.

Teak represents a natural material thatโ€™s easily available in the local area while MonBrick serves as a link between hotels and historic sites. The whole architecture blends in with the surroundings as well as the guest rooms.

The design team also incorporated a sliding lid technique which was inspired by the traditional Lanna house style in order to guide natural light and wind into the room. Combined with a contemporary design, light shines through the skylight opening on the roof creating a relaxed and airy atmosphere. The guest rooms prioritizes quality over quantity.
