Three cheers for the three stripes: Fresh off of building hype for the adidas x Gucci collab dropping this June, the rumours and leaks around another collaboration — this time with Balenciaga — turned out to be true.
It’s not a shocker that Balenciaga x adidas comes just after the adidas x Gucci collection, which officially drops in June. Both Gucci and Balenciaga are under the same parent company, Kering, so it’s safe to say that Kering likes to keep everything in the family.

Typically, we’re tortured into waiting weeks—sometimes months – for designer collaborations to drop after we first catch sight of them, but not the new Balenciaga and Adidas partnership. On Sunday, May 22, the iconic brands debuted their joint efforts at Balenciaga’s resort 2023 runway show in New York City, and it was instantly made shoppable via Balenciaga’s website.

As for the vibe, classic adidas pieces like Three Stripes tracksuits, hoodies, jerseys, and tees get the Balenciaga treatment, boasting updated oversized silhouettes (definitely not as baggy as Bieber’s ‘fits, but still baggy nonetheless).

The 33-piece collection seamlessly marries Adidas’s signature triple-stripe motif with Balenciaga’s voluminous silhouettes. From bulbous sweatpants to chunky sneakers, it’s a match made in high-street fashion heaven that’s sure to sell out. The roster of collectible designs also serves to commemorate the unforgettable showcase (when models took over the New York Stock Exchange’s trading floor for the first time ever wearing latex, face-covering bodysuits) with an NYSE T-shirt.

The collection offers a sporty, footballer vibe, complete with tracksuits, jerseys, hoodies and more. Balenciaga’s Triple-S and Speed Trainers get a proper three stripes overhaul, coming in black, white and a vibrant shade of blue. And yes, there’s a full-coverage face mask.
