VALENTINE’S DAY
It’s here again!
Every year we celebrate ‘Valentine’s’ Day on February 14th. The custom dates back to the 5th century and a Christian martyr although has its origins in the ancient and pre-Roman festival, Lupercalia.
It’s a day we exchange gifts and cards, flowers and chocolate and in the UK alone an estimated £503m is spent on cards, gifts etc. on Valentine’s Day!!!
Yep a shocking statistic. However, not one for being pessimistic, it is a time when people show feelings of love, affection and friendship so not all bad I guess.
Here in Pattaya we embrace the festival with the same fervour as any other – couples hand-in-hand holding a rose bouquet, whispering sweet words to each other while ambling down sois buying soft toys and teddy bears from street sellers.
Having said that there are some very romantic spots in the city and great places to take loved ones.
