Cape Panwa Hotel, Phuket, elevates its luxury lifestyle offering by transforming “Panwa Lodge,” the hotel’s standalone beachfront villa. Reimagined in a sophisticated “Tropical Colonial” style, the villa blends timeless Western architectural influences with the natural beauty of its tropical surroundings. Expansive private living spaces and a generously sized swimming pool offer enhanced comfort, privacy, and exclusivity, creating an exceptional retreat for discerning travellers seeking a more elevated Phuket experience.

The transformation forms part of Cape & Kantary Hotels’ ongoing commitment to enhancing its properties and creating experiences that meet the evolving expectations of today’s discerning travellers. The initiative also strengthens the group’s appeal to the premium luxury segment, particularly guests seeking privacy, individuality, and experiences beyond a conventional hotel stay. Cape Panwa Hotel, Phuket, began renovating its guestrooms and dining facilities in late 2025, including the Mediterranean-inspired “Top of the Reef” restaurant and selected accommodations such as the Pool Villa, Panwa Suite Sea View, and Panwa Suite Garden View.

Tirawan Pangsrivongse (Waew), Business Owner and Project Development Manager for the hotel group at Cape & Kantary Hotels, who oversees the development and enhancement of the group’s properties, shared the inspiration behind the transformation of Panwa Lodge:

“Panwa Lodge is a spacious beachfront villa designed to offer the comfort and privacy of a private seaside home. Its generous layout can accommodate up to three bedrooms, while thoughtfully planned living spaces—including a living room, dining area, and bar counter—create a warm, residential atmosphere for a truly private getaway. The villa also features a large private swimming pool surrounded by lush greenery, with ample space for lounging and sunbathing, making it an ideal setting for relaxed poolside gatherings and private celebrations.”

“Panwa Lodge was designed in a Tropical Colonial style, drawing inspiration from the charm of Panwa House, a Sino-Portuguese mansion that reflects the area’s distinctive heritage. The design features a palette of olive green and earthy tones, creating a warm and understated aesthetic enriched by vibrant tropical colours and lush greenery.

“Original antique pieces, including a four-poster wooden bed, classic wooden tables, and cabinets, are preserved and paired with tropical-inspired furniture and décor, from wooden chairs with woven cane backs and a bar to distinctive lighting and decorative pieces. Each piece is carefully selected and positioned to create a harmonious aesthetic while bringing the villa to life. We have also prioritised sourcing products from local artisans and Thai manufacturers,” Ms. Tirawan said.

Panwa Lodge:

Spanning 321 square metres, Panwa Lodge is an exclusive beachfront villa with 160 square metres of indoor living space and a 37.6-square-metre private swimming pool. Designed as a private retreat, it provides a relaxing escape surrounded by lush greenery and beautiful natural views. The villa opens into a spacious living area, with two bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms situated in the right wing. On the opposite side, a generous dining area with a bar counter provides an inviting setting for dining and entertaining. At the rear, a versatile relaxation room can be converted into an additional bedroom with a comfortable sofa bed.

Panwa Lodge showcases a distinctive “Tropical Colonial” architectural style, combining the timeless elegance of Western Colonial influences with the climate and lifestyle of tropical living. Intricate wooden fretwork along the eaves, inspired by the classic Gingerbread House style, echoes in the interior décor, creating a refined and cohesive aesthetic throughout the villa.

At the front of the villa, a spacious terrace overlooks a large private swimming pool, with ample space for lounging and sunbathing. The interiors feel open and airy, with windows and floor-to-ceiling glass doors connecting the living spaces to the surrounding landscape, while welcoming natural light and bringing vitality to every corner.

Olive green, cream, and earthy tones define the interior palette, with carefully selected furniture and décor creating a cohesive yet characterful design. Lush tropical greenery brings a refreshing sense of nature to the setting, while subtle details—from a woven rattan coconut-palm lamp and palm-patterned cushions to dark brown palm-motif tiles and a vibrant green palm painting behind the bar—come together to evoke a distinctive tropical narrative.

Among the standout pieces is a sculptural woven rattan monkey table, an unexpected statement piece that invites a second look. Wooden chairs with woven cane backs, vases, planters, wooden cabinets, and an eclectic mix of decorative pieces, complement it, all carefully curated to create a harmonious aesthetic in every corner of the villa. Natural linen and cotton fabrics used for the curtains and cushion covers add warmth and a relaxed feel to the interiors.

In the dining area, a classic dark-brown dining set pairs beautifully with warm terracotta-toned floor tiles, while cream and olive-green accents create a balanced, inviting atmosphere. The bedrooms offer a softer, more tranquil ambiance. Antique-style four-poster wooden beds, along with wood and cane furnishings, are paired with cream and soft green tones to create a warm, natural, and restful setting.
