With views to die for Coast Beach Club & Bistro located in the Centara Grand Mirage Naklua takes some beating.
The resort itself has a tropical feel and, after an amble through a Jungle-style setting and over rope bridges, you arrive at the spectacular beachfront restaurant.
Coast is renowned for its laid-back, casual dining atmosphere specialising in coastal cuisine and is famous for its cocktails – you have to try the Tiki menu.
Wednesday night is a night not to miss at Coast with an ‘All You Can Eat’ Prawn menu (Bt950 per person). Prawns cooked in an array of styles are served from chilled to grilled with varying options – the menu is truly mouth-watering.
To start the proceedings, we opted for a ‘Prawns on Ice’ ensemble with the most tantalising tangy lemon and sriracha sauce and then, without any further ado just as my taste buds were settling, along came the ‘Deep Fried Shrimps’ accompanied with a delicious sweet and sour sauce.
Now in full flow we went ‘Thai Style’ with Somtam Goong (a spicy green papaya salad with shrimps) a real mix of ‘big’ flavours with a bittersweet, fresh aftertaste.
Staying Thai next was the Tom Yum Goong (spicy river prawn soup) which is one of the most popular dishes. Rich in its taste with a creamy consistency served in a coconut it was truly delicious and even after the first spoonful I instantly understood its popularity.
Feeling full, but still craving more, we moved on to the Stir-Fried Rice Noodles with Tamarind and the Steamed Garlic River Prawns in Soy Sauce. Both dishes are equally delightful with wonderfully seasoned savory tastes.
The menu doesn’t end there as a salad bar is available all evening for you to munch on in between the ocean delights and if there’s still room at the inn and the food coma hasn’t quite set in a Bakery & Dessert Menu with unlimited choice is also par for the course.
A night of tropical wanderings, beautiful sunsets, moonlight feasting and all for Bt950.
