IHG Hotels & Resorts, one of the world’s leading hotel companies, has today announced the debut of Ruby in Thailand with the signing of a new Ruby hotel in Bangkok. The signing marks Ruby’s first hotel in Asia Pacific since joining the IHG portfolio and represents another milestone in IHG’s continued expansion across one of Southeast Asia’s key priority markets.
Speaking at a press conference, Rajit Sukumaran, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, East Asia & Pacific, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said: “The introduction of Ruby to Thailand marks a significant milestone for IHG and our valued partners at Asset World Corporation. Over the years, we have built a strong and enduring partnership founded on a shared vision to create distinctive hospitality experiences that contribute to Thailand’s tourism growth.
“We are delighted to introduce Ruby’s first hotel in Asia Pacific following IHG’s acquisition of the brand, in partnership with AWC, bringing an exciting new premium lifestyle brand to one of the region’s most compelling travel markets.”
Mrs. Wallapa Traisorat, Chief Executive Officer and President of Asset World Corp Public Company Limited (AWC), stated: “The debut of Ruby in Bangkok marks the next chapter in our long-standing partnership with IHG. Together, we are bringing the first Ruby hotel in Thailand and Asia Pacific to Bangkok’s Sathorn CBD. Through our shared vision and commitment to creating meaningful lifestyle experiences, we aim to accelerate growth, elevate hospitality standards and create long-term value for both organizations, stakeholders and the surrounding community. Inspired by Sathorn’s heritage and creative energy, Ruby will introduce a new concept of engaging lifestyle hospitality to the heart of Silom–Sathorn, designed for today’s experience-driven traveler.
Beyond providing exceptional stays, the hotel aims to create experiences that connect guests with the character of the destination while embracing communities through collaborations with local artists, social enterprises and the district’s creative ecosystem. Guided by AWC’s mission of Building Better Future, Ruby is designed to generate sustainable value for guests, communities, partners and shareholders, while contributing to sustainable tourism through community engagement, local economic participation and responsible destination development. Together with IHG, we look forward to bringing Ruby to travelers around the globe and strengthening Bangkok and Thailand as leading lifestyle destinations for generations to come.”
The entry of Ruby in this part of the world presents an exciting opportunity for both owners and travellers alike. Ruby is an urban lifestyle brand designed for cosmopolitan, style-conscious travellers seeking authentic experiences in vibrant city destinations. With its signature blend of character and soul, Ruby has built a strong following across Europe through character-rich, design-led hotels rooted in the cities they call home. For owners, the brand offers a highly efficient and adaptable model that is well suited to urban markets, with flexible space requirements and conversion-friendly designs.
“Ruby will bring a fresh urban lifestyle experience to the heart of Sathorn, one of Bangkok’s key commercial districts,” commented Rajit. “The hotel will create a vibrant getaway for both visitors and locals. We believe Ruby’s signature blend of style, soul and character will add a new dimension to the neighbourhood and contribute to Sathorn’s evolution as a dynamic destination for business, culture and lifestyle.”
“Bangkok has a proven track record as the launchpad for new IHG brands in Southeast Asia. Ruby is the sixth IHG brand to debut in the city before expanding across the region, following Holiday Inn Express, Hotel Indigo, Staybridge Suites, Kimpton and Vignette Collection,” added Rajit.
“This reflects not only our continued confidence in Thailand’s tourism sector and long-term growth potential, but also Bangkok’s unique position as a dynamic global city where new hospitality concepts can thrive,” Rajit noted. “We are proud to introduce another innovative brand that will further enrich the city’s diverse hotel landscape.”
“As Thailand continues to strengthen its position as one of the world’s most attractive travel destinations, Ruby is well-positioned to support the country’s tourism ambitions by appealing to a new generation of travellers. The brand’s focus on urban destinations and adaptive reuse projects also aligns with Bangkok’s ongoing evolution as a leading global city and gateway to the region,” said Rajit.
Set to open in 2027, the hotel will feature 184 guestrooms and bring the brand’s distinctive approach to hospitality to Thailand for the first time. Inspired by the tropical glamour of 1920s Siam, the hotel will combine design, music and local storytelling to create a stay experience rooted in the character of Bangkok.
Signature hallmarks will include a vibrant 24/7 bar, music-led experiences ranging from live evening performances to in-room Marshall speakers and guitars available for guests to borrow, alongside thoughtfully curated spaces and elevated touches such as oversized beds, rainfall showers and seamless self-service technology.
“With over 40 hotels open and in the pipeline across Europe and the United States, and ambitions to grow to more than 120 hotels over the next decade, Ruby’s arrival in Thailand marks the beginning of the brand’s Asia Pacific growth journey. Following Bangkok, IHG sees further opportunities for Ruby in urban destinations across the wider region,” added Rajit.
This signing further strengthens IHG’s growing presence in Thailand. Today, IHG’s portfolio in the country includes 42 open hotels and a pipeline of 41 additional properties across 11 destinations and 11 brands, reflecting sustained confidence in Thailand’s long-term tourism growth.
