Event was just a breeze

Let’s be honest, organising any outdoor event carries with it an element of danger with regard to the weather.

Will it pour with rain? Will the temperature be too high for comfort? Will the wind pick up and blow all the tablecloths and napkins everywhere?

I’m confident that thoughts such as these must have crossed the minds of the owners of the Prego Pattaya (located on the corner of Beach Road, Amari Pattaya) when they decided to organise their Cicchetti Night at the start of the recent long weekend.

But they were lucky… or maybe they made their own luck by consulting the weather forecast.

The rain held off. The temperature was pleasantly warm and a refreshing cool breeze blew in off the sea. They couldn’t have wished for much better really.

So, with the weather behaving itself, the evening had every chance of being a hit – and it was!

For a starting fee of Bt999 there was food a-plenty; a free-flow of drink and entertainment from an accomplished live band.

Those that know me well will be aware that the prospect of a free-flow of drink puts me in a good mood even before I arrive at a venue.

As Prego is an Italian restaurant the draft beer was Peroni – a step up from the draught beer I would expect at such a reasonably priced event. Although I didn’t sample them, there was no shortage of red, white and sparkling wines in addition. And, yes, there was plenty of soft drink available also.

The food was also of a very high standard. There were help-yourself food stations offering great Italian staples –  Homemade Gnocchi, Pizza, Lasagna Bolognese, Meatball Arrabbiata, Eggplant Parmigiana and Chef’s Ravioli  waiters brought around an array of special tapas-style delicacies to enhance the offering these included Green Asparagus-Bacon Rolls, Sicilian Arancini, Prawns Skewers and Beef Fillet Skewers and from my understanding the weekly menu will rotate.

This was the first Cicchetti Night that will now be a weekly event (every Friday evening), so if you enjoy Classic Italian flavours and free-flow options whilst dining al-fresco style with backdrops of the vibrant beach, this is definitely for you!

The next event is Friday 4th August:

Bt999 net for 2 hours of Cicchetti and free-flow local beer
Bt1,200 net for 2 hours of Cicchetti and free-flow Peroni
Bt1,400 net for 2 hours of Cicchetti and free-flow Peroni and Wines

7.00 pm. to 11.00 pm at Prego Pattaya, Amari Pattaya.
