Two of the most popular and lively beaches on Samui on the east side of the island are Chaweng and Lamai beaches – perfect for those who love beach parties and water sports.

North

With a prime view of the hedonistic island of Koh Pha-ngan, Maenam Beach offers a less developed setting. Although the sand here isn’t as soft, the tranquillity and beautiful views compensate for it. This beach is great for those seeking a peaceful getaway.

A great spot to enjoy this part of the island is Napasai, A Belmond Hotel, which stakes out its private corner of the island. The villas and residences are slightly elevated, set on a hillside above the slither of the beach, which does wonders for the views. The interiors are sedate, eminently palatable, and place comfort above all else – it’s not a hotel for design junkies, but luxury hotel aficionados will feel right at home.

Bophut Beach, also facing Koh Pha-ngan, is known for its charming Fisherman’s Village, a picturesque area with boutique shops, restaurants, and a relaxed atmosphere. Here you can shop for handicrafts on Walking Street, taste street food and enjoy live performances. The beach itself has a more local feel and is generally less crowded than the popular beaches to the east of the island. For convenience, Karma Samui is close to all the amenities. The hotel inhabits a remote ocean-side position.
