Apple plans to launch its first store in Thailand this year. Last year, the company launched its first south-east Asian store on Orchard Road in Singapore. Now it’s Thailand’s turn.

The location will be at the Iconsiam a future mixed-use development with two shopping malls in Bangkok. The flagship location is said to have more than 20,000 sq ft of space.

“We’re excited to begin hiring the team that will open our first Apple Store in Thailand. Bangkok is one of Asia’s leading cultural and tourism centers, with a vibrant design and architectural scene,” reads a company statement. “We look forward to providing customers an amazing space to experience all of our great products, services and inspiring educational programmes that are loved by Apple customers around the world.”

Until now, Thai people have been obliged to either shop online or visit third-party resellers, like iStudio, to buy Apple products.

The new Bangkok store will be staffed by Apple itself.
