Hyundai Mobility Thailand Announces Over 1 Billion Baht Investment to Strengthen Thailand’s EV Industry and Unveils the High-Performance IONIQ 5N

Hyundai Mobility Thailand (HMT) has announced a strategic investment of over 1 billion baht to enhance its presence and contribute to the growth of Thailand’s electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem. Approved by the Board of Investment (BOI) for Hyundai Mobility Manufacturing (Thailand) Co., Ltd., this initiative focuses on boosting local EV production and infrastructure development. In addition, HMT is introducing the IONIQ 5N, a high-performance EV that sets new standards in power, speed, and cutting-edge technology.

Mr. Jae Gyou Chung, Chief Executive Officer of Hyundai Mobility Thailand, stated, “Hyundai Mobility Thailand is dedicated to shaping the future of sustainable mobility through strategic investment and innovation. Our goal is to create a robust EV ecosystem that not only supports the local economy but also contributes to global efforts against climate change. By investing in local manufacturing and infrastructure, we are positioning Thailand as a key player in Southeast Asia’s electric vehicle industry, advancing progress, enhancing customer experiences, and leading the shift to a greener, more sustainable future.”

Sustainability and the EV3.5 Project
Hyundai has long been a leader in delivering smart, sustainable mobility solutions through its all-electric IONIQ brand. Designed with eco-friendly materials, the IONIQ lineup supports connected, environmentally conscious lifestyles. Hyundai’s commitment is further emphasized by the EV3.5 Project, which involves the establishment of Hyundai Mobility Manufacturing Company through a 1 billion THB investment in collaboration with a local production assembly plant. Located on a 28,500 square meter site, with 17,500 square meters dedicated to building space, the facility – HMMT – will house both vehicle and battery assembly operations. Scheduled to begin production in 2026, the project aims to produce 5,000 EV units annually, catering to local customers in Thailand.

This new facility will be crucial in the production of Hyundai’s latest EV models, including the IONIQ series. The plant will focus on localizing key components, forging partnerships with Thai suppliers, boosting local employment, and supporting the domestic EV supply chain. Hyundai’s long-term commitment to Thailand’s EV industry is evident in this investment, as it lays the foundation with the necessary infrastructure for a strong EV ecosystem.
