Historic Massachusetts Golf Club to Host the 2032 U.S. Mid-Amateur, 2036 U.S. Senior Women’s Open and 2041 U.S. Senior Open
LIBERTY CORNER, N.J., USA, – The United States Golf Association (USGA) has announced that Salem Country Club in Peabody, Massachusetts, will host three future national championships, reaffirming the club’s longstanding relationship with the USGA, which spans more than a century.
The three championships returning to Salem Country Club are the 2032 U.S. Mid-Amateur, coinciding with the centennial of the club’s first USGA championship in 1932; the 2036 U.S. Senior Women’s Open; and the 2041 U.S. Senior Open.
The announcement will bring national championship golf back to Salem Country Club for the first time since 2017 and increase the total number of USGA championships hosted by the club to nine.
“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Salem Country Club, a venue with a rich and distinguished history, and to celebrate a century of championship golf together at the 2032 U.S. Mid-Amateur,” said Mark Hill, USGA Director of Championships.
Wayne Guyer, President of Salem Country Club, added: “It is a tremendous honour for our club. Hosting the 2032 U.S. Mid-Amateur will be a particularly special occasion for our members. We are also delighted to welcome the U.S. Senior Open back in 2041 for the third time, bringing the world’s legendary professional golfers back to our course.”
Founded in 1895, Salem Country Club relocated to Peabody in 1926. The course was designed by legendary golf course architect Donald Ross and has recently undergone a major restoration led by Eric Iverson, with the aim of returning its greens, fairways and bunkers to Ross’s original design intent.
Among the course’s signature features is the fourth hole, a 344-yard par 4 widely regarded as one of the finest short par-4 holes among the more than 400 courses designed by Ross.
