Inspired by the quiet beauty and symbolism of jade, the collaboration brings together contemporary Chinese craftsmanship, culinary artistry and The PuXuan’s distinctive sense of place.

The PuXuan Hotel and Spa and TANGSUO, a contemporary Chinese pastry and gifting brand, have come together to present “As You Wish”, a bespoke afternoon tea experience now served at The PuXuan. Inspired by the quiet beauty, warmth and symbolism of jade, the collaboration translates wishes for happiness and fulfilment into a collection of sweet and savoury creations, bringing together contemporary Chinese craftsmanship, culinary artistry and The PuXuan’s distinctive sense of place.

The Quiet Character of Jade

In Chinese, the first character in PuXuan means uncarved jade, while the character Tang in TANGSUO also refers to jade. For both brands, jade represents authenticity, quiet beauty and thoughtful craftsmanship. This shared reference became the starting point for “As You Wish”.

A Sense of Place

A chocolate piece recreates The Lobby Lounge’s signature view of Jingshan Park, framed by its picture window. Directly north of the Forbidden City, the view changes with the seasons and has become a lasting memory for many guests. The chocolate is also available in a gift box to take home. One mousse echoes the sculptural pine in Jingxiang Yuan, a signature artwork on the hotel’s lobby level by Chinese contemporary artist Shi Jinsong. Another recalls the courtyard gardens of Suzhou, a recurring motif in TANGSUO’s design. Together, they create a miniature landscape that reflects The PuXuan’s idea of an urban retreat – a personal haven in the heart of Beijing.

Rather than reproduce traditional motifs, the collection translates the visual language of jade, framed views and sculptural pine into clean, contemporary forms. The result is a modern expression of Eastern aesthetics, presented through a series of sweet and savoury creations.

Two Settings, Savoured Your Way

The “As You Wish” afternoon tea is served in two settings. At The Lobby Lounge, floor-to-ceiling windows frame views of Jingshan Park, accompanied by a refreshing cold-brew jasmine tea. At Tea Room, tea is prepared by a specialist team that includes the first tea sommelier ever recognised with the MICHELIN Sommelier Award (Beijing 2025). Guests may instead choose aged Fuding white tea or ancient-tree Pu’er for a slower, quieter experience, whether alone or with friends.

May you find your own urban retreat, and may every wish come true.
