From local market visits and heritage tours, The Residence Bintan Invites Guests Beyond the Resort with Authentic Island Experiences

Tucked away in serene Bintan just under two hours away from Singapore, The Residence Bintan is a tropical respite that feels worlds away with new experiences to discover. Possessing the rural charm of a traditional Asian village, this luxurious resort sanctuary spans 70 hectares with sweeping views of the South China Sea, housing lush pool villas, a nature-enclosed spa, and an array of wellness and eco activities.

As part of The Residence collection, the property reflects the brand’s signature approach to hospitality: creating tranquil environments that are reflective of the destinations, paired with bespoke service that makes every guest feel truly at home. Through thoughtfully curated guest experiences, environmental stewardship, and heartfelt community connections, the property unveils strengthened initiatives to its esteemed guests to rediscover the rhythms of local life.

Honouring Local Culture
With effortless access to authentic Bintan, the resort bridges its guests to the local community and creates opportunities beyond the usual tourist trail. The all-new Tanjung Pinang Walking Tour invites culture seekers to explore the island capital’s multicultural heritage, architecture, and daily local life, while the Kijang Morning Market Tour takes guests into one of Bintan’s bustling local markets to join fishmongers on their routine fresh seafood catches, sample traditional snacks, and immerse in the local coffee culture.

Committed to a Sustainable Future
Designed to celebrate the island’s natural environment, the walking tours enrich the resort’s existing programmed signature sustainability activities such as the Guided Marine Walk during low-tide, and the Earth Basket Farm Tour, a guided showcase of crops and composting in the in-house regenerative farm. Guests are invited to use these freshly-harvested ingredients in a subsequent Farm-to-Table Cooking Class.
The resort is also in hands with local stakeholders to progress current developments. Its latest milestone includes a Miyawaki forest restoration training session that resulted in the planting of 250 native trees, which are now being monitored for growth in partnership with a local university. This restoration plot is also being expanded to bring guests to personally participate through hands-on tree-planting activities.
A new partnership with Bintan’s forestry department is also underway to build a native tree nursery that intends to secure indigenous species for future reforestation both on-site and island-wide.

Nurturing the Next Generation of Guardians
The commitment to meaningful connection extends to the resort’s littlest guests. Elevated kids’ club programming now leverages creativity to encourage curiosity, nurture environmental awareness, and take a step into experiencing local culture. Through engaging nature-based activities like crafting leaf sun catchers, making recycled seagrass cards, alongside cultural immersions like children baking classes featuring Earth Basket ingredients, and traditional local games, young minds can connect deeply with the island’s heritage.

Deepening Roots with Cenizaro Cares
The Cenizaro Cares initiative continues to contribute to its environmental and locally-driven community initiatives through its Dollar-a-Day donation campaign. In Bintan, such initiatives include support for the revitalisation of a local maritime museum, clean-up efforts in Kawal to encourage healthier mangroves and fishing environment, as well as the establishment of a food forest at a primary school in Kijang.
Through every shared smile with a local resident, every native tree planted, and every tradition honoured, the resort proves that true luxury gains its character by giving back to its environment. The Residence Bintan continues to look forward to serving as a gateway to experiencing the heart of the island, redefining what it means to truly travel with purpose.
