In collaboration with the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), the Honda LPGA Thailand 2023 organised the annual Junior Golf Clinic at its home, the Siam Country Club Old Course in Pattaya. Part of the “Road to Honda LPGA Thailand” initiative, the demonstration clinic is an exciting programme designed to drive inspiration within budding Thai golfers to sharpen their skills and encourage them to pursue the sport professionally.
A total of 50 juniors across two sessions attended and spoke with LPGA professionals Arpichaya Yubol, Chanettee Wannasaen and Jaravee Boonchant. All three Thai athletes, who recently earned their LPGA Tour Card for the 2023 season, will be part of the 72 player field at the tournament. After a quick round of introductions, the young golfers from each session were coached and given tips on both long and short games. The eager juniors took swings at the driving range and were given demonstrations on correct forms and helpful drills to generate distance. This was complemented by a turn at the chipping green to work and master their short game.
The clinic ended with an interactive Q&A session, which had an enthusiastic response from the young golfers who were keen to learn more about the journey from amateur to professional. The LPGA professionals shared their motivations, biggest learnings and excitement for the tour ahead.
“This was such a great way to interact with fans and express my passion for the sport. There was a lot of potential and talent here today which makes me so excited for the next generation of golfers. It’s also deeply motivating to see my experience and learnings act as inspiration to others and I will definitely take this with me to the tournament ahead,” shared LPGA rookie 2023, Chanettee Wannasaen.
“It was a lot of fun and very exciting to meet professional players in person. I learnt so much about the techniques and swings and I can’t wait to practise more and hopefully be part of the LPGA too one day! ” said Punpisa Kiat Pornsiri, a participant in the Honda LPGA Junior Golf Clinic.
