Maserati has unveiled Project GT4 for the first time globally at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026, marking a significant milestone in the brand’s return to GT racing. Based on the GranTurismo, the new competition car reinforces Maserati’s long-term motorsport vision and its ambition to compete for international GT4 championship titles from the 2028 racing season. Project GT4 joins the Maserati GT2 and MCXtrema, further strengthening the connection between the brand’s road-going models and its racing heritage.

It brings together our technical expertise, motorsport experience, and operational know-how to create a highly competitive GT4 race car while preserving the unmistakable character of the GranTurismo. Our goal is to deliver a race car that is competitive, reliable, and accessible, ready for the 2028 racing season, which also coincides with the 100th anniversary of the Trident emblem and Maserati’s 112th anniversary.”
Developed in Modena, Project GT4 combines Italian design with racing technology derived from the Maserati GT2, benefiting from the engineering expertise of Andrea Bertolini. The car is powered by Maserati’s 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged Nettuno V6 engine, mounted in a front-mid longitudinal position and driving the rear wheels. Incorporating Formula One-derived pre-chamber combustion technology, the powertrain produces more than 700 CV while the vehicle weighs approximately 400 kilograms less than the production GranTurismo.
The race car features a fully adjustable suspension system and is equipped with GT4-specification racing components, including a redesigned front splitter, aerodynamic dive planes, a full roll cage, FIA-compliant safety fuel tank, and 18-inch racing wheels.
To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Trident emblem, Project GT4 wears a bespoke commemorative livery featuring a bold blue Trident graphic stretching from the roof to the rear of the car, complemented by smaller monochromatic Trident motifs across the bodywork. A white front section pays tribute to the legendary 420M/58 Eldorado race car, while the blue and yellow colour scheme reflects the heritage of Modena, Italy.
With Project GT4, Maserati aims to compete at the highest level of international GT4 racing, building on the success of iconic competition models including the MC12, GranTurismo GT4, and Trofeo Light GT4.
