Former Scuba Head Chef Launches Sun Society, a New All-Day Brunch Destination on Sukhumvit 31

Opening on 1 November, Sun Society combines all-day dining with a fresh approach to community living, bringing together quality food, wellness activities and social connections in the heart of Sukhumvit.

Sun Society, a new all-day breakfast and brunch destination on Sukhumvit Soi 31, will officially open on 1 November. Co-founded by chef Rafael Garcia, who brings extensive experience from fine-dining restaurants in Europe and Bangkok, alongside Thibault Garcia and Kevin Koeninger, the restaurant combines European service standards with a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Designed as more than just a place to eat, Sun Society aims to create a neighbourhood gathering space where guests can start their day with breakfast, stop by for coffee after a workout, work remotely in the afternoon or meet familiar faces and gradually become part of the local community.

Opening from 7 am, Sun Society will serve a selection of Western favourites and Thai-inspired dishes throughout the day, with most menu items priced between THB 200 and THB 300. The accessible pricing is designed to appeal to local residents, professionals working in the neighbourhood and anyone looking for a convenient yet enjoyable dining experience throughout the day.

The menu features signature dishes such as Avocado Croissant Toast, Sweet Potato Gnocchi, Carrot Tacos, Turkish Eggs and Salmon Waffle, alongside specialty coffee and a drinks bar serving favourites such as mimosas. The restaurant also prioritises locally sourced ingredients and sustainable sourcing practices wherever possible. Whether guests are looking for a quick breakfast or a leisurely meal with friends, the menu is designed to suit a variety of occasions and lifestyles.

“Every restaurant I have worked at before was designed around the idea of someone spending just two hours of their day there. At Sun Society, people can spend the entire day,” said chef Rafael Garcia, chef and co-founder of Sun Society.

“I wanted to bring my professional experience into creating a place that people would want to return to several times a week. Someone might start with breakfast, join a running activity and then get to know others over coffee. Over time, people begin to recognise one another and say hello. That is what we want Sun Society to become: a place where people enjoy good food while feeling that they belong to the neighbourhood.”

From Fine Dining to Everyday Hospitality

Chef Rafael’s career spans leading kitchens and hospitality establishments across Europe. His experience includes Hôtel du Palais in Biarritz, France; the Michelin-starred La Réserve de Beaulieu near Monaco; a bakery in Paris; and a head chef position with Le Collectionist in Zermatt, Switzerland.

After moving to Bangkok, he joined Michelin-starred Cadence by Dan Bark as a pastry chef before becoming head chef during the opening of Scuba, which received the Opening of the Year award at the Koktail Thailand Restaurant Guide Awards 2026.

These experiences have shaped his vision for Sun Society: an everyday dining destination that combines culinary quality with approachable pricing, encouraging guests to return regularly rather than reserving the experience for special occasions.

Building Community Through Food, Fitness and Shared Interests

The community-focused concept is rooted in the three founders’ shared interests in rugby and padel, as well as the friendships they have built through socialising around common passions.

To bring this spirit into the neighbourhood, Sun Society plans to offer complimentary morning activities for guests, including yoga, Pilates, breathwork, high-intensity interval training (HIIT), stretching sessions and a Run Club. These activities are designed to give people opportunities to connect, build relationships and enjoy a meal together afterwards.

For those who wish to stay beyond breakfast, the upper floor features a dedicated co-working area equipped with Wi-Fi and power outlets. Sports massage services will also be available to help guests recover after exercise.

From December, Sun Society plans to extend its opening hours until 10 pm and introduce outdoor movie nights in the garden, creating another inviting setting for people to gather and spend time together in the evening.

Location and Opening Hours

Sun Society is located at 178 Sukhumvit Soi 31, Yeak 2, Bangkok, approximately a 10-minute walk from EmSphere shopping centre. During its initial phase, the restaurant will be open from Wednesday to Monday, from 7 am to 5 pm. On-site parking and a pet-friendly area are also available.
