The house of Gucci made its comeback on Friday, February 25, 2022 with a show event on the third day of Milan Fashion Week after being absent for several seasons from the official calendar. Alessandro Michele presented the Gucci fall-winter 2022-2023 collection by shaking up once again the codes of the house through a collaboration with adidas Originals.

This season, Gucci pushed the limits of creativity with sportswear giant adidas Originals..

The theme of this 2022-2023 collection followed a notion of mirroring throughout the show. By juxtaposing worlds, senses and inspirations, Alessandro Michele drew the contours of a fantasized fashion, with multiple references.

Impeccable tailoring, neo-goth accents, and revisited evening wear were among this multiple aesthetics, while sportswear reached new heights of luxury through pieces co-designed with adidas Originals. The most desirable logo of the moment features the clover leaf of adidas designed in 1971 and the name Gucci.

We saw this stamped on the heels of a boot, affixed to mittens, and even on the pocket of a jacket. This collaboration showed how to bring the right amount of cool to sportswear through a handful of knit ensembles, hoodies, blazer and jackets upgraded with the three signature stripes.

There were three-stripe berets, capes and giant leather bags, and brilliant two-way Gucci monogram caps emblazoned with the Adidas Originals logo. Tracksuit bottoms, sporty jersey maxi dresses and lightweight trench coats spoke to our desire these days for an easy-to-wear wardrobe, but the partnership was most attractive when applied to items you’d never hit the gym in.

Gucci’s ultra-modern slim-fit suiting popped in jewel tones with white three-stripes down the outer leg and inner arm, and with a white Adidas leaf motif on the breast pocket with the word Gucci subbed in underneath; and a white silk puff-sleeved Victoriana gown was given a fresh edge thanks to the addition of navy Adidas insignia.
Much like the latter partnership, one suspects Adidas x Gucci will have affordably priced product among the lineup, a smart move that will afford it greater reach and thus ultimate global hype. For now though, we know very little about price points or release date, with the brands simply confirming in a statement that “they are joining forces in a new collaboration – adidas x Gucci – which combines the heritage and the creative codes of both brands.”
