New Year, New You and all that Jazz, resolutions and trends that are set to revitalise you’re home.

What better way to kick start a New Year than to spruce up your pad. Here are a few interior design trends to look out for in 2019?

SUSTAINABLE AND NATURAL FABRICS

The movement towards natural fabrics has for obvious reasons gathered momentum and 2019 is set to see these become even more mainstream as companies embrace this trend.

Sustainable and natural fabrics used for throws, cushions – even upholstery – and set to feature high with a real boho feel.

TERRAZZO TILES

Terrazzo is a flooring material traditionally made by exposing marble chips on the surface of concrete and then polishing until smooth. Now, however, you can buy terrazzo in tile form. Terrazzo can be subtle but can also take centre stage with bright colours and flambouyant combinations of marble.

FOUR POSTER BEDS

The fastest way to make a design statement is with a dramatic piece of furniture, and in the bedroom that means a striking four-poster bed.

“In uncertain times, people tend to want spaces that bring a sense of comfort and safety. A four-poster bed provides that type of feeling. It’s the closest thing you can get to a hug from a piece of furniture.” — Amy Sklar of Sklar Design

FLORAL PATTERNS

Although not necessarily a new trend, floral this coming year will become much more exaggerated in proportion with contrasting colours being used for this timeless decor pattern.

COLOUR KITCHENS

2019 will bring a wave of more personalised kitchen designs, ones that feel collected and blend seamlessly with living spaces in the home. The minimalist look that has been so prevalent is changing to a more eclectic ‘kitch’ view.
