The First Cortina to Open in December
The transformation of a landmark property in Cortina d’Ampezzo marks a significant milestone in the group’s growth strategy across its three distinctive brands
11 September 2026: The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts, an international boutique hospitality group, is entering a new chapter of growth with the opening of The First Cortina on 4 December 2026. The 76-room property will strengthen the group’s portfolio in Europe and represents another significant step in its growth strategy across three distinctive yet complementary brands.
The First Cortina underscores The Pavilions Group’s expertise in creating distinctive hospitality experiences through design, wellness and destination-led dining. Building on the success of The First Rome, which offers a distinctive interpretation of contemporary luxury, the group’s portfolio brings together three clearly positioned brands: The First, REVĪVŌ, a specialist wellness brand, and The Pavilions, its collection of distinctive hotels and resorts. Together, the three brands provide a strong platform for continued growth across a diverse range of markets and destinations.

The transformation of a building on Corso Italia, one of the most prominent locations in the heart of Cortina d’Ampezzo, into The First Cortina reflects The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts’ philosophy of preserving the identity of each destination while expressing its character and sense of place through world-class design and hospitality expertise.
Whether revitalising historic properties or developing new-build hotels, the group has demonstrated its ability to create properties that remain deeply connected to their local context while integrating contemporary design and international standards of service. Hotels such as Casa Almagro, Madrid by The Pavilions and The First Rome by The Pavilions exemplify this approach, successfully transforming properties of historic significance while preserving their local character. Meanwhile, new-build developments including The Pavilions Phuket and other properties across the portfolio demonstrate the group’s ability to create distinctive hotels tailored to different development models and destinations.
Following the strong reception of Velo, the pasticceria at The First Dolce in Rome, its second location will open at The First Cortina, adding to the property’s dining offering alongside Zuma Cortina, the hotel’s signature restaurant. Together, the two venues reinforce The Pavilions Group’s focus on creating contemporary and engaging culinary experiences through both international brand partnerships and proprietary concepts.
The group’s culinary portfolio also includes ALTO and Acquolina, Michelin-recognised restaurants in Italy, as well as NUTRIO, REVĪVŌ’s wellness-focused dining concept in Bali.
Building on the holistic wellness philosophy of REVĪVŌ Wellness Resort, Bali, the opening of The First Cortina marks another important step in bringing the brand’s expertise in wellness and longevity to a broader range of properties across the group’s portfolio.
The hotel will feature a 1,000-square-metre REVĪVŌ Spa and Wellness, combining traditional approaches to wellbeing with evidence-based contemporary wellness practices, adapted to the unique Alpine setting. Guests will have access to luxury facilities, state-of-the-art equipment and comprehensive wellness programmes spanning relaxation, recovery and holistic body care.
This approach builds on the success of REVĪVŌ Spa at Château de Fiac, which was designed to complement the château’s tranquil and private setting.
Gordon Oldham, Founder of The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts, said:
“We have always believed that memorable hotels should have a distinctive identity of their own and be genuinely connected to their destination. The First Cortina brings this philosophy to life in one of the world’s most iconic Alpine destinations, creating a new space where people can come together, relax and experience the destination through design, dining and wellness.”
As an international boutique hospitality group growing through ownership, management and strategic partnerships, The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts continues to explore new opportunities across Europe and Asia, with a focus on distinctive hotels and destinations capable of creating long-term value for owners, partners and guests.
Florence Wong, Chief Executive Officer of The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts, said: “Our growth strategy is focused on building greater diversity, strength and scale across the business. The Pavilions, The First and REVĪVŌ each have a clear positioning, enabling us to expand into a broader range of destinations and market segments while maintaining a disciplined approach to selecting the right hotels and partners.”
The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts’ portfolio currently comprises 13 distinctive hotels and resorts across Asia and Europe, with many recognised by leading travel media and platforms.
