Highlights for 2024: Special Experiences at Wonderfruit This Year

Today, Wonderfruit is recognized as one of the most famous celebrations in Asia, encouraging diverse individuals to embark on a journey of self-exploration and connection through culture, sound, mind, nature, and well-being, all presented in a uniquely Thai style. Highlights not to be missed this year include:

Molam World: A vibrant celebration of Isan culture through music, food, and art. This year, the Molam village has expanded into Molam World, allowing attendees to explore the Theatre of Eats, filled with delicious local cuisine in a night market atmosphere, a new-style tower farm, Molam buses, and a gallery from Jim Thompson. Participants will experience the rich traditions of Isan through Molam performances and world-class shows curated by Maft Sai from ZudRangMa Records and can join heritage craft activities, such as a traditional instrument-making workshop with the Kammao and Phinprainn families.

Wonderness: A space for physical and mental health and well-being at The Fields, which has been expanded this year to include over 100 activities aimed not only at physical training and development but also at mental wellness. Attendees can try and enjoy various zones, such as Bath House, Unconditional Space, Ancestral Forest, and Slow Wonder Cabins. Whether looking for family activities or health-focused options, everything in this zone is designed to inspire participants to explore their body and mind.

Sonic Minds: Learn about the importance of sound and its impact on health through the Sonic Minds program, a collaboration between Wonderfruit and MSCTY_Studio. Sonic Minds builds on previous projects to create a space for Wonderers to explore and learn about the sounds of the future, focusing on health and well-being. This experimental program began with a special camp held last September and will continue throughout the festival. Sonic Minds will feature activities at Enfold, Polygon Live, and Ancestral Forest during Wonderfruit 2024, with sounds collected from the camp forming the project’s foundation.

Rewilding Project: The restoration and development of Wonderfruit’s area is another key focus this year, with the team planting over 30,000 native trees using various planting and reforestation techniques since 2022. This year, attendees can help plant an additional 1,000 trees to strengthen the ecosystem at The Fields. Additionally, The Farm, a crucial aspect of Wonderfruit’s future plans, will expand, emphasizing valuable plants with practical and medicinal uses for workshops and enriching dining experiences.

Dining Experiences in The Fields: Community, people, and cultural exchange have always been the core goals of Wonderfruit. This year, food will reflect the spirit of Wonderfruit, as chefs Dylan Eitharong from Haawm, Chef Prin Pongsuk from Samrub for Thai, and Lady GooGoo create bold and unique dining experiences. Using food as medicine and sustainable practices, there will also be a newly developed open kitchen inspired by home cooking, where guests can enjoy family recipes in an Open Kitchen with views of The Fields.

A Diverse Exploration of Sound: Wonderfruit 2024
This year features innovative collaborations in sound music at Forest Stage, where Bottlesmoker x Modern Biology will create music connected to nature and mushrooms. Additionally, Polygon Live will be redesigned for a 360° immersive sound experience through a special collaboration between Photay and Tuvan Huun-Huur-Tu. Creature Stage will showcase Wayne McGregor’s Autobiography (v104) with Jlin, redefining choreography through DNA decoding, personal memory recordings, and artificial intelligence. Furthermore, the new location for Forbidden Fruit has been moved to a hillside with a lotus pond, perfectly integrating with nature, inviting Wonderers to embark on a spiritual journey to watch the sunset and dance under the stars.

Wonderfruit’s ongoing commitment to sustainability this year focuses on creating a fully circular economy, aiming to go beyond standard practices to create a lasting positive ecological impact. Over the years, The Fields has transformed into a permanent village with sustainable infrastructure, including structures integrated with nature, waste management systems, and advanced water filtration supporting sustainable resource management throughout the event.

The Wonderfruit festival has been certified as a carbon-neutral event since 2017 and prohibits the use of single-use plastics while widely promoting recycling and reuse.
