• Highly awaited, long-running awards programme opens anew as residential real estate market shows rebounding sentiment and positive signs of recovery in 2022

With rising optimism in the real estate market, the PropertyGuru Thailand Property Awards, the longest-running real estate awards in the country, are set to stage a comeback as an exclusive, safely conducted, in-person event for 2022.

Following a successful virtual gala event in 2021, the 17th Annual PropertyGuru Thailand Property Awards, presented by Mitsubishi Electric, will be held as a black-tie gala dinner and ceremony at The Athenee Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Bangkok on Friday, 25 November 2022.

The Thai edition of the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards has new categories at stake this year for the nation’s finest developers and projects. They include never-before-presented honours for the nation’s most well-connected developments; waterfront properties; and eco-friendly, pet-friendly projects.

Key dates and categories for 2022 are:

1 January 2022 – Entries Open
9 September 2022 – Entries Close
26 September – 14 October 2022 – Site Inspections
17 October 2022 – Final Judging
25 November 2022 – Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony in Bangkok, Thailand
9 December 2022 – Regional Grand Final Gala Event

The comeback of the PropertyGuru Thailand Property Awards as a physical gala event coincides with improving market fundamentals, easing Covid-19 restrictions, and widespread distribution of vaccines across the nation, according to leading analysts.

Suphin Mechuchep, chairperson of JLL Thailand and chairperson of the independent judging panel of the PropertyGuru Thailand Property Awards, said: “Through challenges and opportunities, JLL has been there for the Thai property market for more than 30 years, and the pandemic is no exception. As global travel slowly resumes and confidence renews among investors and developers, we expect Thailand’s real estate market to be on the road to recovery. Led by real end users, the pent-up demand will usher in a strong rebound of the Thai real estate industry in the months to come.”

New supply is predicted to enter the residential market at the beginning of 2022 as developers and sellers offload their existing property to cater to consumers with strong purchasing power, according to the Thailand Property Market Outlook 2022 by DDproperty, the official property portal of the Awards. In addition, the DDproperty Thailand Property Market Price Index of landed Bangkok residential properties showed year-on-year growth in Q3 2021, especially for single detached houses.

Kamolpat Swaengkit, country manager of DDproperty, said: “Locations with the highest price growth are in Bangkok suburbs because most landed properties in these areas are more affordable for the majority. In addition, the expansion of BTS and MRT routes makes traveling to the city much more convenient.”

Analysts shared these and other insights today 9 March in a media roundtable launching the 2022 season of the PropertyGuru Thailand Property Awards. The PropertyGuru Awards in Thailand will support this positive sentiment with a return to our physical gala format in Bangkok this year, celebrating the resilience of the property market in the presence of the country’s finest developers and real estate achievers.”
