Forest Bathing: A Restorative Journey Through the Rainy Season
Set across more than 530 rai (approximately 848,000 square metres) of lush forest, Khao Yai Art Forest offers visitors the opportunity to spend quality time in nature—breathing in fresh air, listening to the rustling leaves, feeling the breeze, taking in the surrounding greenery, and simply being present in the moment.
Inspired by the principles of Forest Bathing, this immersive connection with nature encourages relaxation and provides a refreshing reset for both body and mind.
The rainy season brings an especially captivating character to the forest, with vibrant foliage, moisture-rich earth, refreshing air, drifting mist and clouds, and ever-changing patterns of light and shadow shaped by the weather.
Along the trails of Khao Yai Art Forest, visitors can also discover the beauty of native seasonal flora, from the delicate white blossoms of Takian Hin, the yellow flowers of Maklua and Samae San, to the purple and pink blooms of Thai Poinciana. These seasonal details add vivid touches of colour to the rainy-season landscape, inviting visitors to slow their pace, observe nature more closely and discover the beauty hidden along the way.
When the Human Heart and Trees Vibrate in Rhythm
Amid the forest of Khao Yai Art Forest, contemporary works by Thai and international artists are thoughtfully integrated into the natural landscape, creating an experience where art and nature exist in quiet dialogue.
Among the newest works on view is “Pulsus Vitae (2013)”, an interactive installation by French artistic duo Scenocosme, comprising Grégory Lasserre and Anaïs met den Ancxt. The work invites visitors to heighten their awareness of their own bodies and attune themselves to the subtle rhythms of the forest. By embracing the tree and placing an ear against its surface, visitors can experience sounds and vibrations that resemble the pulse of the tree itself—an intimate encounter that encourages a deeper connection with the natural world.
Another unmissable highlight is “Khao Yai Fog Forest”, the iconic fog landscape installation by renowned Japanese artist Fujiko Nakaya. Visitors can also encounter “Madrid Circle (1988)” by legendary land artist Richard Long, featuring a perfectly composed circle of slate stones set against an open landscape. The work invites contemplation of the cycles of life, the passage of human time and the vast continuum of the natural world, creating a powerful yet understated encounter between nature, art and the self.
Savor the Experience Through the Art of Taste
The experience at Khao Yai Art Forest extends beyond visual art to the art of taste.
Tucked within the forest is K-BAR, a hidden bar open on the second Saturday of every month. The space features a site-specific installation by internationally acclaimed contemporary artist duo Elmgreen & Dragset, surrounded by the forest, while paintings by Martin Kippenberger are displayed inside.
Every drink served at K-BAR becomes part of an ongoing dialogue between art, place and the moment—adding another layer to the immersive experience.
The journey continues with “The 4th Element Tasting Experience,” a lunch and dinner tasting concept inspired by the four elements—Earth, Water, Air and Fire. Created by Chef Wuttisak Wutiamporn and his team, the experience celebrates seasonal local ingredients, including produce sourced from Khao Yai Art Forest itself, transforming them into thoughtfully crafted dishes rooted in local culinary knowledge.
Each course is presented with the refinement and visual beauty of an artwork, offering more than an exceptional dining experience. The menu is also thoughtfully tailored to complement the individual element associated with each guest, creating a more personal and immersive culinary journey.
Escape the City Without Driving
For those looking to leave the pace of city life behind without the hassle of driving, Khao Yai Art Forest offers a convenient shuttle service, making it easier to spend a day immersed in art and nature.
The shuttle departs from Bangkok Kunsthalle at 10:00 a.m. and arrives at Khao Yai Art Forest at approximately 1:00 p.m., allowing visitors to spend the afternoon exploring the artworks and natural surroundings.
The itinerary includes a Forest Print Workshop from 1:30–3:30 p.m., followed by the Khao Yai Fog Forest experience at 4:30 p.m., before departing for Bangkok at 5:00 p.m.

Khao Yai Art Forest is open Thursday–Friday from 12:30–6:00 p.m. and Saturday–Sunday from 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m., with the final artwork admission at 5:30 p.m.
Khao Yai Fog Forest is presented at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday–Friday, and at 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Saturday–Sunday, with each session lasting approximately 10 minutes.
