Vietjet Thailand is expanding its services to Japan under its Winter 2026 flight schedule, strengthening its presence in one of its most promising and consistently popular international markets among Thai travellers. The airline will increase flight frequencies and offer more travel options across five popular Japanese destinations: Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Okinawa and Sapporo, in response to rising demand during the winter travel season.

Under the expansion plan, Vietjet Thailand will increase the number of seats available on its Japan routes by 50% compared with its Summer 2026 schedule. This move reflects sustained growth in travel demand, with the airline recording an average load factor of 90% on its Japan services in 2026. The figure highlights the popularity of these routes and the potential for further expansion to accommodate demand during the peak travel season.

Pinyot Pibulsonggram, Vice President of Commercial and Customer Relations at Vietjet Thailand, said, “Japan is the most popular destination among Vietjet Thailand’s international routes, with consistently strong demand from Thai travellers. We are therefore increasing flight frequencies and expanding our services to major cities as well as other tourist destinations across Japan to meet growing demand.

“During this winter schedule, Vietjet Thailand will operate up to 50 flights per week connecting Thailand and Japan, providing passengers with greater choice and convenience. We will also continue to offer affordable fares, giving more Thai travellers the opportunity to discover the diverse attractions Japan has to offer.”

Expanded Flight Frequencies and Routes to Japan

Under its Winter 2026 schedule, Vietjet Thailand will increase frequencies on key routes, including:

Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi)–Tokyo (Narita): Increased from seven to 11 round-trip flights per week, effective 6 November 2026.

Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi)–Osaka (Kansai): Increased from four to seven round-trip flights per week, effective 13 November 2026.

In addition, the airline will resume services on the Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi)–Fukuoka route, operating four round-trip flights per week, and continue to serve the Chiang Mai–Osaka (Kansai) route with four round-trip flights per week.

Vietjet Thailand will also operate connecting services from Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi) to Osaka (Kansai) and Okinawa via Taipei, with one flight per day on each route. The Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi)–Sapporo route via Taipei will operate four flights per week.

The increased frequencies and expanded route network will provide greater flexibility and convenience for travellers planning trips to Japan, covering both well-established tourist cities and destinations across different regions of the country. Passengers will have more opportunities to experience Japan’s distinctive attractions, culture, cuisine and natural landscapes.

JNTO Welcomes Expanded Connectivity

Mr Hajime Nakasugi, Executive Director of the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), Bangkok Office, said, “Japan remains a highly popular destination for Thai travellers. During the first nine months of 2026, from January to September, approximately 835,000 Thai visitors travelled to Japan, representing a 2.4% increase compared with the same period last year.

“JNTO welcomes Vietjet Thailand’s expansion of its flight network to Japan, which will make travel more convenient and provide Thai travellers with greater choice. We hope this will encourage more visits to Japan while contributing to the growth of the tourism sectors and supporting economic activity in both countries.”
