Cartier Brings the World of Bejeweled Wildlife to Life Through Its High Jewelry Collection ‘Nature Sauvage’ in Singapore

Cartier unveiled the third and final chapter of its high jewelry collection, Nature Sauvage, in Singapore, breathing life into exquisite jeweled creatures set amidst natural landscapes and surreal frontiers. This final act celebrates vitality, imagination, and boundless creativity.

Following its debut in Vienna, Austria, and the second chapter in Shanghai, China, the grand finale of Nature Sauvage took place at Singapore’s Former Command House, a historic gem symbolizing colonial heritage—an ideal setting to host this high jewelry exhibition. The occasion also marks Cartier’s 30th anniversary in Singapore, further underscoring the significance of the event.

The exhibition spans 219 square meters, artfully curated into six distinct universes. Visitors are invited to explore the seamless fusion of nature, culture, and exceptional craftsmanship that defines the Maison.

Each chapter is rendered in Cartier’s inimitable style, uniquely interpreted through the lens of Singapore’s rich Peranakan heritage, adding depth and local resonance to the collection’s narrative.

One of the highlights is the exclusive ‘Art of Threading’ workshop led by Michel Aliaga, Cartier’s Director of Heritage and Style, in collaboration with local artists. This initiative explores shared values in cultural diversity, heritage preservation, and artisanal craftsmanship—reflected in the parallel between intricate Peranakan beadwork and Cartier’s mastery in high jewelry creation.

This collaboration culminated in the creation of Alaxoa, a one-of-a-kind necklace adorned with over 400 emeralds. Crafted with utmost precision, this masterpiece took more than 2,600 hours to complete and pays homage to traditional craftsmanship and cultural expression.

The Maison’s artisanal mastery and creative freedom are vividly expressed through Nature Sauvage, a celebration of wildlife and wilderness—most notably, the iconic panther. From icy frontiers to lush forests, and from architectural abstraction to surreal fantasy, these creatures come alive across various dreamlike backdrops that transcend boundaries of form and structure, embodying the mystery and magnificence that are hallmarks of Cartier.

A Journey into the Wonders of Nature Sauvage

An Enchanting Prologue

The journey of Nature Sauvage begins with a sensual embrace of the elements, where coastal breezes inspire sculptural poetry. Drawing from the soft winds along Singapore’s shoreline, the opening gallery features flowing forms and curved surfaces that mimic natural sand movement—celebrating the perfect imperfection of nature. Towering Super Flowers, handwoven from rattan, reflect local craftsmanship and serve as iconic representations of Singapore’s landscape.

Geometry and Reimagined Landscapes

In the second room, Nature Sauvage takes on a rhythmic narrative inspired by reimagined local architecture with geometric contours. High jewelry pieces are seamlessly integrated into this aesthetic—where woven rattan pebble forms contrast with soft curves, and Singapore’s national flower, the orchid, blooms elegantly within a meticulously crafted environment. This interplay of nature and structure transforms the urban jungle into a canvas for Cartier’s vision of balance, beauty, and innovation.

Final Destination: Along the Water’s Flow

The journey concludes in an aquatic realm—symbolic of Singapore’s intimate connection with water. This final room features artistic interpretations of water’s fluidity and brilliance, brought to life through diverse materials and dynamic motion. Reflections and light mirror the sparkle of Cartier’s high jewelry, creating an immersive sensory experience.

Where Culture Meets Cartier’s Heritage

At the heart of Cartier Tradition lies the reverence for timeless classics. Iconic vintage creations are preserved, certified, and meticulously maintained, becoming prized collectibles. In this exhibition, the rich tapestry of Singapore’s textile heritage is showcased through beaded and embroidered designs, particularly orchids—presented alongside Cartier’s legendary masterpieces.

A Fusion of Time, Craftsmanship, and Symbolism

In a mysterious, cave-like space, Cartier presents its universe of haute horlogerie. The room’s soft arches echo the eternal flow of time, embellished with sunray motifs made from inlaid straw—a nod to the Maison’s iconic watch dials. At its center stands a serene bamboo pillar, symbolizing strength and elegance. Together, these elements pay tribute to Cartier’s métier d’art, uniting design, heritage, and technical artistry in a timeless expression.

A Poetic Dialogue Between Cultures and Imagination

The Special Order Room is dedicated to cultural identity and individuality. Inspired by the colorful ceramic tiles commonly found in traditional Peranakan homes, the room features intricate floral and animal patterns that reflect Singapore’s deep-rooted heritage. Guests are invited into a world of co-creation, where Cartier’s animals appear to come alive on handwoven walls styled after native tilework—blurring the lines between past and present, tradition and innovation.

The exhibition also includes ten Private Viewing Rooms, each designed around three core themes in collaboration with local artists. These spaces offer guests an intimate, immersive experience with Cartier’s creations, celebrating artistry and excellence.
