With more than 40 years of international experience across Europe and Asia, Louk Lennaerts has built a distinguished career creating pioneering hospitality concepts and distinctive brands. From the development of the Fusion Group in Vietnam to the establishment of Bhutan Spirit Sanctuary, his work reflects a vision that brings together creativity, strategic development and a holistic approach to hospitality.

Born in the Netherlands, Louk Lennaerts has spent most of his life living and working abroad, gaining extensive international experience across Europe and Asia. Throughout more than four decades in the hospitality industry, he has established himself as a visionary and hospitality expert, recognised for creating innovative concepts and developing distinctive brands that respond to evolving travel trends and the unique character of each destination. In 2019, he and his family relocated to Portugal, where he continues to pursue his interests in hospitality consultancy and wellness-focused development.
His professional journey in Europe included participation in the establishment of two successful hospitality management companies: Vienna International, which later became Vienna House by Wyndham, and TUI Magic Life, originally known as Marco Polo Club. These experiences provided a strong foundation in brand development, business strategy and operational management. He also worked as a consultant for several hospitality companies, helping them create new tourism concepts and strengthen their market positioning.
Building on this experience, Louk founded INSPIRIT in Portugal in 2023, a consultancy company specialising in the development of all-inclusive wellness concepts for hospitality projects across Europe.
Building a Hospitality Legacy in Asia
Louk’s connection with Asia began through his consultancy work as an Associate Expert for ITC UNCTAD GATT, based at ESCAP in Bangkok. This role enabled him to establish a professional network across numerous Asian countries and gain valuable insight into the region’s tourism and hospitality markets.
His work in Vietnam began with the development of Victoria Hoi An, which was the first beach resort in Hoi An at the time. This project marked the beginning of a long-standing involvement in Vietnam’s hospitality industry and laid the groundwork for a series of innovative developments that would follow.
He subsequently founded a management company for The Life Resorts, overseeing three projects: Anantara Hoi An, Avani Quy Nhon and a boat project in Halong Bay. The portfolio was later sold to Minor Group at a significant premium for investors, demonstrating the value of developing distinctive hospitality concepts supported by effective management and strong market positioning.
Another defining chapter in his career was the founding of Fusion Group in Vietnam. Serving as the Group’s Creativity Officer, Louk played a leading role in its development strategy and was involved in projects across all stages, from initial concept creation to implementation and operations. More than 12 projects were developed throughout Vietnam under different brands, each designed to address specific market opportunities and guest expectations.
What distinguished the Fusion Group’s approach was its integrated development model. Rather than focusing solely on hotel concepts, the team managed the entire process from A to Z, encompassing concept development, architecture, interior design, landscaping, technical planning and construction management. The projects were then brought to life through dedicated management teams and proprietary brands.
This comprehensive approach was a pioneering initiative in Vietnam, creating a portfolio of distinctive and commercially successful hospitality projects. Among its most recognised brands were Fusion Maia and Fusion Suites, both of which helped establish a new direction for the country’s hospitality landscape.
One particularly significant achievement was Fusion Maia Danang, where Louk and his team introduced the spa-inclusive concept to Asia for the first time. By making wellness an integral part of the guest experience rather than an optional additional service, the resort established a distinctive market position and became a major success. The property is now known as Tia Wellness, continuing its focus on wellbeing and holistic hospitality.
A Holistic Vision for Luxury Wellness in Bhutan

Louk’s commitment to innovative hospitality concepts extended beyond Vietnam with the founding of Bhutan Spirit Sanctuary in 2018, the first and only five-star wellness-inclusive luxury resort in Bhutan. Conceived as an innovative hospitality destination, the project embraces a holistic approach to wellness, integrating wellbeing into the overall guest experience.
Once again, Louk was involved in the project from A to Z, overseeing its development from the initial vision through to implementation. He is also one of the project’s major stakeholders. Located in a destination renowned for its distinctive cultural identity and natural environment, Bhutan Spirit Sanctuary represents a unique proposition within the country’s luxury hospitality market.
The resort has demonstrated its appeal to a variety of guest segments, particularly those seeking extended stays and dedicated retreat experiences. Its concept reflects Louk’s belief that wellness should be more than an additional hotel facility; it can form the foundation of an entire hospitality experience, influencing the design, services and atmosphere of a destination.
Continuing to Develop Wellness-Inclusive Hospitality

Today, Louk continues to bring his international experience to the development of wellness-focused hospitality projects through two specialist consultancy ventures. Alongside INSPIRIT in Portugal, he founded Wave Nine, a Vietnamese company providing consultancy services for the development of wellness-inclusive concepts for hospitality projects across Asia.
His work reflects a consistent philosophy: successful hospitality development begins with a strong and clearly defined concept, supported by an integrated approach that connects design, construction, branding and operational management. From the earliest planning stages to the guest experience, every element must work together to deliver a distinctive identity and long-term value.
Across more than four decades, Louk Lennaerts has contributed to the evolution of hospitality in several international markets, creating projects that go beyond conventional accommodation. His journey, from establishing management companies in Europe to developing pioneering resort concepts in Vietnam and Bhutan, demonstrates the importance of creative vision, market understanding and the ability to transform ideas into successful hospitality businesses.
Through his continued focus on innovation and wellness, Louk remains committed to shaping hospitality experiences that connect people with destinations while creating meaningful value for guests, investors and the wider industry.
