Siam Country Club Old Course is a premier golf course that has hosted the world-class professional women’s golf tournament, Honda LPGA Thailand, for many years. With its beauty and the challenges, it presents, this course has remained a lasting memory for golfers and fans who eagerly await the chance to see top stars compete. In 2025, golf fans will experience several changes to the Siam Country Club Old Course, Pattaya, while still retaining its classic timeless charm.

The Siam Country Club Old Course is an 18-hole championship-standard golf course, founded by Dr. Thaworn Phornprapha in March 1971. After undergoing renovations, including the clubhouse, it reopened on May 14, 2007. The course sits on 80 rai (approximately 32 acres) on the eastern side of Sukhumvit Road, opposite Pattaya Beach in Chonburi. It has been the venue for the Honda LPGA Thailand tournament, the only LPGA Tour event in Thailand, since 2007, hosting the competition 15 times to date.

The course maintains its classic layout, but with significant improvements, including the addition of golf cart paths from the tee boxes to the greens. As a result, the Siam Country Club Old Course has become a world-class golf venue, voted the best golf course in Thailand in 2023 by the World Golf Awards. With excellent facilities, well-maintained grounds throughout the year, and 101 bunkers that add both beauty and challenge for golfers, the course continues to impress.

In 2023, major updates were made to the clubhouse’s interior and surrounding landscaping to enhance the visitor experience, providing a full view of the stunning scenery. Additionally, the Champion’s Bridge was added to the course, with six sections named after past champions of the Honda LPGA Thailand, including:

  • Hole 2: Named after Lexi Thompson, champion of 2016
  • Hole 8: Named after Suzann Pettersen, champion of 2007
  • Hole 11: Named after Yani Tseng, champion of 2011 & 2012
  • Hole 15: Named after Ariya Jutanugarn, champion of 2021
  • Hole 16: Named after Amy Yang, champion of 2015, 2017, and 2019
  • Hole 17: Named after Ai Miyazato, champion of 2010

The Siam Country Club Old Course is renowned for its beauty and challenge, starting from the very first step onto the course. The clubhouse and other facilities are world-class, earning the course its place as a venue for LPGA Tour events, the largest professional women’s golf tour globally. In the 2025 Honda LPGA Thailand, the course will again welcome 72 top female golfers to compete at the highest level of the game.

Since its founding, the Siam Country Club Old Course has stayed true to its original mission of being a world-class golf course to promote Thailand’s golf industry and elevate the sport in the country, placing it on par with leading golf destinations worldwide. The course preserves its iconic layout, featuring 38 different species of trees along its fairways, and is surrounded by beautiful views of Pattaya’s mountains. From the tee box on hole 9, players can see the Big Buddha statue at Wat Phra Yai, home to the largest Buddha image in Chonburi. This serene environment reflects the timeless charm and tranquility of playing golf.

The success and reputation of this course can be seen in the steady growth of its membership and the increasing number of visiting golfers, now around 40,000 annually. Besides local fans, the course also attracts golfers from abroad, especially from South Korea and Japan. The climate in Thailand is favorable for golf year-round, making the Siam Country Club Old Course one of the most iconic and timeless golf courses in the world.

The course’s 18 holes are not only challenging for golfers but also beautiful. The layout includes both uphill and downhill holes, providing an unforgettable experience from the tee to the fairway and green. The green’s elevation changes make it difficult to read, adding an element of drama and excitement, especially on the final day of competition when the outcome is still uncertain.

A highlight is hole 16, a par 3 measuring 184 yards. This is the longest par 3 on the course and is the signature hole. Playing from the back tee is not easy, even though the surrounding water doesn’t add pressure. The beauty of the hole adds a sense of calm to the competition, but the bunker by the green and the slope around the green present a serious challenge. A mis-hit can easily lead to dropped strokes. This hole is used for the hole-in-one prize during every Honda LPGA Thailand tournament.

Mr. Somchai Suebboon Siripong, Managing Director of Siam Country Club, expressed: “We are honored to have earned the trust of the world-class Honda LPGA Thailand tournament as the venue for this prestigious event for so many years. We are proud to be part of showcasing Thailand’s ability to host international-standard golf competitions and to welcome top female golfers and fans from around the world.”

The popularity of Thai female golfers on the global stage has been rising, and Siam Country Club Old Course is excited to welcome golfers once again. The challenging layout with both uphill and downhill shots, combined with the precise approach shots needed to hit the greens, creates excitement for fans of all ages.

All staff are eager to work hard to support the tournament each year, ensuring the success of the Honda LPGA Thailand, which attracts 40,000–50,000 spectators over four days. Preparation for the event begins six months in advance.

The Honda LPGA Thailand 2025 will return to inspire and thrill golf fans from February 20-23, 2025, at Siam Country Club Old Course, Pattaya, Chonburi.
