The company has officially appointed Wayne Zhou as the Managing Director of GWM (Thailand) effective from March 1, 2025. This appointment marks a significant step in strengthening and solidifying the business in Thailand. Wayne Zhou will lead the company in driving the brand forward and expanding its business growth through close collaboration with a team of over 1,000 Thai employees and a strong network of partners. The goal is to deliver innovative vehicles and excellent services, while focusing on meeting the needs of Thai consumers under the “User-Centric” strategy to ensure sustainable growth and create value for Thai society.

Wayne Zhou brings over 15 years of experience and expertise, particularly in strategic marketing and sales, proving his ability to adapt to challenging markets worldwide. Wayne Zhou began his leadership journey in South Asia (2010), the Middle East (2010-2019), and later as Senior Manager for Network and Sales at GWM India (2019-2022). He then became Managing Director of GWM Latin America, overseeing operations in over 40 countries across Central and South America (excluding Brazil and Mexico) from 2022 to 2024.

One of Wayne Zhou’s most notable achievements is the transformation of GWM in the Latin American market. Under his leadership, GWM Chile rose from 14th to 8th in the market in 2023, despite a nearly 30% decline in the overall market. Within just one year, GWM became the number one Chinese brand in the country, thanks to precise product positioning and marketing strategies. This success led to the brand being awarded “BEST BRAND” by Autocosmos in 2023. GWM continued its strong performance in 2024, maintaining its position as the number one Chinese brand, ranking 8th overall, and securing a spot in the top three in the pickup truck market. In addition to success in Chile, Wayne Zhou played a key role in expanding GWM’s presence in Ecuador, where the brand rose to 7th place and became one of the top two most popular Chinese brands, as well as the number one Chinese pickup truck brand in 2024. He also strengthened GWM’s competitive edge by opening a KD production line for GWM POER, boosting cost competitiveness and supporting the ongoing launch of new products. Furthermore, Wayne Zhou’s role extended to the Middle East, where he restructured the dealer network and enhanced operational efficiency, further strengthening GWM’s business potential and reinforcing its position as a strong and competitive automotive brand.
