The Art Auction Center Reinforces Its Leadership with “housewarming” Auction, Setting New Records in Thailand’s Art Market

The Art Auction Center, Thailand’s leading art auction house, has announced another major success following its recent “housewarming” auction, which generated remarkable momentum and set new benchmarks for the Thai art industry. The event brought together collectors, patrons, and art enthusiasts for an evening that celebrated not only exceptional artworks, but also the emotional connection between art, memory, and space.

Held on Sunday, 17 May 2026, at Museum Pier, the auction marked a significant milestone for The Art Auction Center. Under the concept of “housewarming,” the event transformed the venue into a welcoming artistic home, showcasing more than 133 carefully curated masterpieces in a special exhibition before the live auction began.

Three Legendary Artists Set New Auction Records

The “housewarming” auction created a historic moment for Thailand’s art market by establishing new Artist Records — the highest auction prices ever achieved — for works by three master artists. The results reflected increasing demand among collectors, as well as the growing value and stability of Thailand’s fine art market, further solidifying The Art Auction Center’s position as the country’s leading art auction platform.

One of the evening’s most remarkable highlights was “Fisherman” by Thawan Duchanee, which attracted intense bidding competition and ultimately achieved a final hammer price of THB 14,506,250. The work now stands as the second-highest auction result ever achieved for a Thawan Duchanee artwork in Thailand, surpassed only by “VITRUVIAN MAN,” which sold for THB 25,531,000 — a record also established by The Art Auction Center.

Several additional masterpieces also achieved exceptional prices, creating new milestones for the Thai art market.

Among the standout sculptures was a rare semi-abstract work by Chamruang Vichienket, inspired by the idealised beauty of Sukhothai Buddhist art blended with the human form. The sculpture achieved a record-breaking auction result of THB 1,856,800.

Another remarkable achievement came from a unique carved wooden Buddha sculpture by Chit Rienpracha, celebrated for its fusion of traditional Sukhothai elegance and contemporary artistic expression. The piece sold for THB 1,102,475, setting a new benchmark for the artist and reflecting the increasing appreciation for masterful sculpture within Thailand’s auction market.

Five Masterpieces Achieve Exceptional Results

The “housewarming” auction also featured important works by Thailand’s leading master and contemporary artists, many of which achieved outstanding final prices:
