Bentley Motors Unveils State-of-the-Art Paint Shop and Celebrates with One-of-One Continental GT S Finished in New ‘Spectraflair’ Paint
Bentley Motors has officially opened its new state-of-the-art Paint Shop at its headquarters in Crewe, marking a major milestone in the ongoing transformation of the company’s manufacturing facilities. To celebrate the occasion, Bentley has also revealed a unique Continental GT S, the only example in the world to feature the brand’s new Spectraflair paint finish with an iridescent, rainbow-like effect.
From now on, all Continental GT, Continental GTC, Flying Spur, and Bentley’s first fully electric vehicle, scheduled to launch later this year, will receive their paint finishes in the new facility. Production of the Bentayga will transition to the Paint Shop at a later stage.

Covering more than 12,500 square metres, the new Paint Shop is housed within the tallest building on the Crewe campus. It represents a significant step forward in Bentley’s digital manufacturing strategy while setting new benchmarks for high-value production. The facility has also been designed with dedicated space to support future bespoke paint processes and customer commissioning.
The two-storey facility has been meticulously planned to optimise every stage of the painting process, creating an ideal working environment that seamlessly integrates advanced automation with the craftsmanship of Bentley’s skilled paint specialists.

The new Paint Shop incorporates cutting-edge energy and heat management technologies to improve both operational efficiency and employee comfort. Heat generated by the advanced paint booths is captured and recycled back into the building, allowing the facility to operate without conventional heating for approximately two-thirds of the year.
Further enhancing its sustainability credentials, the Paint Shop replaces traditional solvent-based primer with water-based primer technology, delivering greater application precision while reducing material consumption. Advanced filtration monitoring systems also help reduce overall waste by up to 45% compared with the previous facility.
The Paint Shop is additionally equipped with a Regenerative Thermal Oxidiser (RTO), which treats paint process emissions at temperatures of up to 1,000°C before releasing purified air into the atmosphere. This system reduces volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions generated by paint operations by up to 98%, significantly minimising the facility’s environmental impact.

The production process is supported by a fleet of 10 Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), which safely and efficiently transport vehicle bodies between workstations. Bentley’s new Paint Shop is the first automotive paint facility in the world to fully integrate AGV technology, providing greater production flexibility while enabling highly personalised paint specifications to meet individual customer requirements.
The same AGV technology is also being incorporated into the redevelopment of Bentley’s historic A1 building, the future home of the brand’s electric vehicle assembly operations. The integration will enhance inspection accuracy while improving workflow efficiency throughout the entire manufacturing process.
Outside the new facility, visitors are welcomed by an artistic installation featuring 45 painted panels, each finished in one of Bentley’s signature exterior colours used throughout the customer commissioning process. Every panel has been hand-painted by Bentley’s craftsmen using the same techniques applied to the brand’s production vehicles.

One-of-One Continental GT S Showcases Bentley’s New Benchmark in Automotive Paint Finishing
To commemorate the opening of the new Paint Shop, Bentley has created a truly unique Continental GT S featuring the all-new Spectraflair finish, applied within the new facility using Bentley’s latest paint technologies.
Developed by Bentley’s expert craftspeople in Crewe, the new colour, Spectral Verdant, evolves from the brand’s existing Verdant green. Under natural light, the finish reveals a striking iridescent effect, producing subtle rainbow-like reflections that transform with changing viewing angles.
Spectral Verdant joins Bentley’s exclusive Extended Paint Range by Mulliner, offering customers an even broader palette of bespoke exterior finishes.
The one-of-one Continental GT S is further distinguished by a hand-painted Ghost White Pearlescent Union Flag accent applied using a specialist paint technique. The vehicle stands as a showcase of Bentley’s unrivalled combination of craftsmanship, innovation, and bespoke personalisation, demonstrating the brand’s continued commitment to creating exceptional motor cars for customers around the world.
