Uniqlo, a global leading apparel brand, continues its mission with the global initiative “The Heart of LifeWear,” donating 1 million HEATTECH items to displaced people, children in need, and disaster victims around the world. In Thailand, Uniqlo has delivered warmth to those affected by the cold weather in the northern regions of the country through the Romsai Foundation and Mirror Foundation.

The “The Heart of LifeWear” project, launched by Uniqlo globally, aims to distribute 1 million HEATTECH items to provide warmth to those in need. In Thailand, Uniqlo has extended this effort by donating 15,000 HEATTECH items to the Romsai Foundation and the Mirror Foundation, helping those suffering from the cold in Northern Thailand. On Children’s Day, Mr. Yoshitake Wakakuwa, CEO of Uniqlo Thailand, along with Uniqlo Thailand volunteers and the Mirror Foundation, delivered the HEATTECH items to children and those in need at Ban Mueang Daeng School in Mae Sai, Chiang Rai. This area was one of the regions affected by recent flooding, making warm clothing even more essential during the cold season.

“The Heart of LifeWear” project is a global initiative that stemmed from Uniqlo asking the question, “What makes life better?” or “What can make our lives better?” This question led to the development of tangible efforts to help society through LifeWear products. As Uniqlo marks its 40th anniversary in 2024, the project aims to improve the lives of those in need by providing warmth, comfort, and dignity.

Mr. Koji Yanai, Senior Executive Officer of Fast Retailing Co., Ltd. (Uniqlo’s parent company), stated, “Today, millions of people are living in circumstances that they did not choose or desire, due to factors such as conflict, oppression, or natural disasters. No one wants to be a refugee or live in an unsafe situation. Uniqlo’s latest global initiative, The Heart of LifeWear, seeks to make a positive change in the lives of people, especially those living in these difficult situations, with the goal of improving lives and making them more comfortable, even if only in a small way.”

Currently, there are over 120 million displaced people around the world, many of whom are living in difficult conditions. These people reside in areas where Uniqlo has operations or near those areas. Through The Heart of LifeWear initiative, Uniqlo is delivering help to displaced people, children in need, natural disaster victims, and other vulnerable groups, with the aim of improving their lives. Uniqlo will donate clothing based on the climate conditions of the recipient areas, including HEATTECH items for warmth and AIRism clothing, which is lightweight and has excellent breathability.

Mr. Yoshitake Wakakuwa, CEO of Uniqlo Thailand, said, “Uniqlo Thailand continues the The Heart of LifeWear project by donating a total of 15,000 HEATTECH items to people in remote areas affected by the cold. The first delivery began in late 2023 in Omkoi District, Chiang Mai, a mountainous and remote area. In January 2024, Uniqlo, in collaboration with the Mirror Foundation, visited Ban Mueang Daeng School in Mae Sai, Chiang Rai, one of the areas affected by flooding, to deliver HEATTECH items to those in need. On this occasion, we also provided both HEATTECH clothing and other items to children in celebration of National Children’s Day. Our goal is to bring warmth and smiles to children in these areas. We believe this initiative truly embodies Uniqlo’s mission to share the power of clothing with those who need it the most, contributing to communities around the world.”
