W Bangkok, the city’s vibrant destination for art and design, is celebrating a major achievement as Bar Sathorn, its stylish cocktail destination, has been ranked No. 17 on Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2026, while also receiving the prestigious Nikka Highest Climber Award.

This marks the second consecutive year that Bar Sathorn has been included on the renowned list, following an impressive leap from its debut position at No. 48 in 2025. The recognition reflects the bar’s continued commitment to reimagining Bangkok’s social scene through creative mixology, art-led design and an energetic atmosphere, while reinforcing its ambition to continue pushing the boundaries of excellence.

Where Heritage Meets Contemporary Bangkok
Bar Sathorn is housed within The House on Sathorn, a historic architectural landmark beautifully restored alongside the 31-storey W Bangkok. The iconic venue provides a distinctive setting for memorable evenings with family and friends.
Originally built in 1889 as a private residence, The House on Sathorn later served as a hotel and the Russian Embassy. Reimagined by renowned design firm AvroKO, the building reopened in 2015 as one of Bangkok’s most captivating social destinations.
Bar Sathorn was relaunched in 2023 with a design concept that celebrates more than 135 years of heritage, complemented by striking contemporary artworks from emerging Thai artists.

A World of Art and Mixology
Led by talented Italian bartender Marco Dongi, Bar Sathorn invites guests into a world where art and mixology come together.
Throughout his distinguished career, Marco has showcased his craft at leading hotels and restaurants around the world, including Michelin-starred chef Carlo Cracco’s restaurant in Milan and the renowned Buddha-Bar in Dubai. He has also been named among the Top 10 finalists in the World Class competitions in Italy and Dubai, and was selected as a Coca-Cola Brand Ambassador in 2020.
Alexander Kellermann, General Manager of W Bangkok, said: “Being recognised for the second consecutive year is a true testament to the creativity and passion of our team. We are proud to see Bar Sathorn continue to grow, and we remain committed to delivering experiences that blend the contemporary spirit of W Hotels with Sathorn’s rich heritage.”
Marco Dongi added: “This award is a celebration of both our guests and our team. Through our Local Mix project, we incorporate sustainability, community and culture into every glass, using ingredients sourced from Thailand and supporting local farmers. This reflects our commitment to environmental values while contributing to Bangkok’s vibrant bar community.”
“I am also proud to represent Bar Sathorn through guest shifts across the region, where these experiences continue to inspire new ideas and creativity for the cocktails we create.”

A Cocktail Journey Through Four Eras of The House on Sathorn

History of Sathorn (1888–1926): Celebrating the beginnings of cocktail culture through timeless classics.
Hotel Royal (1926–1948): Capturing the glamorous era of Madame Staro through Italian-inspired cocktails.
Embassy Row (1948–1999): Paying tribute to Sathorn Road’s diplomatic heritage with international cocktails enhanced by distinctive Thai spices.
