The fascinating story of how jewellery has played an integral role in defining the Vivienne Westwood look has landed in Bangkok. Vivienne Westwood & Jewellery, a major new exhibition arrives at Central Chidlom. Following stops in Shanghai, Chengdu and Macau the pioneering spirit of the British fashion house’s creativity now takes on new meaning within Bangkok’s vibrant cultural scene.

From the beginning of her career, Vivienne incorporated jewellery as a powerful and integral part of her designs – to add meaning and give expression to the body. Vivienne Westwood & Jewellery explores the design language and subversive spirit of the British design house through the prism of jewellery. Curated by the Vivienne Westwood team, the exhibition presents four decades of special archive and runway jewellery displayed together as a collection for the first time.

The exhibition was launched at Central Chidlom, hosted by Vivienne Westwood Chief Operating Officer Giuseppe Aragoni. He was joined by the Chief Executive Officer of Central Retail Department Store – Natira Boonsri, the Omni-Channel Merchandising Director of Central Retail Department Store  – Tapida Norpanlob, Chief Marketing Officer of Central Retail Department Store – Rvisra Chirathivat and guests of the house Nani Hirunkit Changkham, Namtan Tipnaree Weerawatnodom and Milk Pansa Vosbein.

Vivienne Westwood & Jewellery offers an immersive look at Vivienne Westwood’s extensive history of jewellery design – encompassing Westwood’s sensibilities for historical reference and culture, past and present. The exhibition is divided across eight rooms, each dedicated to distinct decades of design; from punk Origins to fantasies of Wonderland, the ecological philosophy of Do It Yourself, an exploration of cultures and 18th Century Parure, and an ode to the house emblem in the Orb room.

Recalling seminal past collections and runway shows, visitors can expect a curated dialogue between jewellery and garments, surrounded by sound, catwalk looks, graphic wall collages, imagery, and video, offering a unique perspective into the Vivienne Westwood world.

“It’s great to see this exhibition travel, and it’s amazing to bring it to Bangkok and show the people there the history of the house. Jewellery is an essential part of the brand artistically and jewellery helps you to be seen. Nothing does more to frame the face and give expression to the body and accentuate your personality.

Jewellery is powerful, and it can be loaded with meaning. It marks life, and it gives importance to it. At Westwood, over time we built up a real treasure trove.

Even during the punk years, Vivienne incorporated studs, safety pins, pin-up pictures, tins and bits of rubbish, bones, all kinds of things, applicated on clothes.

The Orb logo itself is a jewel, symbolising the world with its past, its present and through adding the Saturn ring, its future. It’s very British and very Vivienne.”

As a global touring exhibition, the curating team have ensured that each stop has new elements and exhibits to explore and enjoy. Vivienne Westwood & Jewellery Bangkok premieres The Galaxy Room, an immersive, deeply personal journey into Vivienne Westwood’s creative universe; an area designed to inspire curiosity rooted in art, culture and education, developed in partnership with Microsoft.

As visitors move through the exhibition, they can choose and scan the jewellery pieces that resonate with them — building a personal selection of up to 40 designs. Each chosen piece becomes a doorway into the stories, influences, and creative decisions behind its design. This curated digital universe reflects Vivienne’s values: intellectual rigor, authenticity, craftsmanship, activism, and a lifelong belief in the transformative power of culture and education.

At the heart of the Galaxy Room, the visitor’s chosen jewellery selection becomes the centre of a personalised constellation. This evolves into a personalised scrapbook: a unique visual reflection of the visitor’s journey through the world of Vivienne Westwood & Jewellery. Visitors can refine their selection, save their composition, and leave with a digital artwork that continues the experience beyond the exhibition.

As the exhibition’s emotional and intellectual conclusion, the Galaxy Room invites every visitor to step inside Vivienne Westwood’s world — and discover how culture shapes not only what we make, but who we become.

The experience extends beyond the exhibition with the Vivienne Westwood Exhibition Shop, offering an exclusive limited-edition collection that includes accessories and exhibition T-shirts.
