The data highlights Thailand’s continued appeal as one of Asia’s most sought-after destinations, with Malaysia ranking first in terms of international search interest, followed by South Korea, China, India, and Japan. Notably, China climbed from seventh place in 2025 to third place in 2026, recording a 38% year-on-year increase in search volume on the platform.

This diverse top-five ranking reflects Thailand’s broad appeal across the region, attracting travellers from across Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, and South Asia.

Agoda’s data also shows sustained interest from other Asian markets, with Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Indonesia rounding out the top nine sources of inbound travel demand. This underscores Thailand’s position as a consistently popular destination across multiple Asian regions, rather than being driven by any single market.

Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket Remain Top Domestic Destinations

Within Thailand, Bangkok, Pattaya, and Phuket continue to dominate search rankings as the top three most sought-after destinations on Agoda’s platform, reaffirming the enduring popularity of the country’s key tourism hubs.

Chiang Mai ranks fourth, reflecting continued strong interest in northern Thailand, while Hua Hin/Cha-am holds fifth place, remaining a preferred coastal destination known for its tranquillity and accessibility from Bangkok.

Rising Interest in Nature and Emerging Destinations

Beyond established hotspots, Agoda’s data indicates growing demand for alternative travel experiences. Destinations such as Khao Yai, Kanchanaburi, and Nakhon Nayok have all entered the top 20, highlighting increasing interest in nature-based and experiential travel.

Meanwhile, Thailand’s renowned island destinations—including Krabi, Koh Samui, Koh Samet, and Koh Tao—continue to maintain strong rankings, reinforcing the enduring appeal of Thailand’s coastal tourism offerings.

Overall, the top 20 destinations reflect Thailand’s ability to cater to a wide range of traveller preferences, from urban experiences and cultural exploration to nature retreats and beach holidays.
