After the success of his restaurant Upstairs, Korean-American Chef Dan Bark opened Cadence to offer fine progressive American cuisine in an elegant dining room. Building on his experience in some of Chicago’s Michelin-starred restaurants, he combines the flavours of Western and Asian cuisine to achieve a sophisticated complexity of textures and aromas. His expertise is complemented by an impressive curation of wines and well-crafted cocktails.

In 2014, a young passionate team opened a small restaurant called Upstairs. With the dream of running a dining room to welcome diners and give them an intimate and welcoming experience. We have been humbled by the journey of growing from a small team to a big family that not only includes our team but you as well, our guests – whose friendship and support we have valued throughout the years.

Taking another chapter, Chef Dan Bark and the team moved forward into unveiling their newest experience – Cadence by Dan Bark. Cadence represents rhythm, flow, and balance – the lifeblood of our dining room. Venture journey through Chef Dan’s Progressive Personal Cuisine harmonised with a unique selection of elegant wines and artfully designed cocktails.

Chef Dan Bark

Cutting his teeth in Chicago, Chef Dan dedicated 15 years to his craft working in the 2-Michelin Star restaurant Avenues and as sous chef for the famed 3-Michelin Star, Grace. In 2015, on a gamble moved to Thailand to open his dream restaurant Upstairs

Establishing his reputation in the culinary scene in Bangkok, Upstairs earned a 1-Michelin Star award during its inaugural season and maintained its star every year since. Chef Dan has redefined the traditional cooking style to create an exciting new menu for guests from all around the world.

With his dedicated passion and steadfast philosophy toward his career he is moving forward with his team to create Cadence. Chef Dan emphasizes the depth of flavor that is truly nature and combines it with different textures.

Chef Dan explores the depth and complexities of the natural flavours of ingredients and combines them with artfully crafted dishes. His unique and personal style reflected from his international experiences defined Cadence and his cuisine as Progressive American.
